Portrait of A Lady - Cleydael Farm

Wonderful early 19thC. oil on canvas now laid on board. Some touch-up to
book, left hand and shawl, craquelure. This portrait hung at Cleydael
Farm, an antebellum Virginia plantation house built in 1855-59. Lincoln
assassin John Wilkes Booth and accomplice David Herold ate dinner
here on April 23, 1865 while attempting to escape pursuing Federal
cavalry. Good condition, contemporary black ribbed wood frame.
Measurement: 22 x 18 framed; 18 x 14 sight.
