Constitution",
19thC. folk art on wood panel of the USS Constitution in full sail. Bold
colors of white, red, green and black against deep blue sky. Sides and
back in brownish-red. Great detail and folk appeal. The one-piece pine
panel has been re-glued across the width at mid center. Minor scuffing
and paint loss.
The Constitution is a wooden-hulled
three-masted heavy frigate of the U.S. Navy, named by President George
Washington after the Constitution of the U.S. of America, and is the
world's oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat. She was built in
Boston, Mass. and launched in 1797.
