Cage Bar Gate, Hard-to-find cage bar gate for the
"ordinary" or tap room. In colonial taverns and inns, it was necessary
to lock up or "cage" the offerings at night so that "sleep-walking"
guests could not imbibe. Made of pine, nailed and screwed construction.
Very good natural surface. Gate will attach at top so it can be lifted
to open. Metal catch (bottom right) will hold it open.
Measurement: 33 x 24.5 x 1.5 thick.
